Help! I’ve Got A MIGRANE!
Help! I need someone. Help! Not just anyone…HELP!
When I was younger so much younger than today, I was having a migrane day. I’ve had them since I was 6. As a child, they would get so bad I’d throw up. They have ruined many a good time. Once, I was excited to have my Woody Woodpecker costume for Halloween. Remember those old Costumes in the ’70’s ane early ’80’s? They consisted of a plastic mask of the character’s face (I also had Casper) that stayed on your head with a little elastic string. There were only eye and nose holes in it and boy did that plastic get sweaty! The body of the costume was a one piece plastic sheet with the character’s body printed on it. Anywho, I was in grade school, and I started getting a migrane. By the time I got home from school, I was in tears due to the pain. So what did THAT mean? I had to stay home because I started PUKING! However-I HAD an older brother that was a Type 1 Diabetic (which I am as well). Therefore, if it weren’t an apple, box of raisins, or pennies I got his candy. My disappointment with the situation wasn’t the candy, it was not getting to show off my costume.
Another tragic childhood migrane experience that will stick in my head-The old Beatles cartoon. It was on a weekend, probably a Sunday. I got a migrane. Nothing would get rid of them except suffering with it for more than half the day, forcing myself to go to sleep for an hour and a half. Then, I’d start to feel better. Anyway, this particular day the Beatles cartoon was on. I hated it and it took me a long time to ever enjoy The Beatles after growing up. It was the only cartoon on, and it was better than being bored by something my father was watching. That day’s episode had the song Help! in it. Well, I forced myself right quick to go to sleep so I didn’t have to watch this anymore! It’s funny though, now that is my favorite song by them…
I remember having one while watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. That was one of my favorite movies as a kid-of course! It made me feel better, something else to focus on.
I wasn’t diagnosed with Diabetes until I was 12, so I don’t think that had anything to so with it. I don’t get migranes as severely anymore. If I feel one starting, I take two ibuprophin and it’ll go away. Tylenol doesn’t work for me, and my stomach can’t really handle asprin.
